Ponding / improper pitch

Common Defects & Damage Types
Ponding / improper pitch Ponding, or improper pitch, occurs when pavement is not sloped correctly, allowing water to collect instead of draining away. Standing water can accelerate surface deterioration.

Proper pavement pitch directs rainwater toward gutters, drains, or catch basins. When slopes are inadequate, water may remain on the surface, increasing the risk of freeze-thaw damage, staining, and premature wear. Correcting the pavement grade often provides a long-term solution.
