Fiber-reinforced concrete

Concrete & Paving Materials
Fiber-reinforced concrete Fiber-reinforced concrete contains small synthetic, glass, or steel fibers distributed throughout the mix to help control cracking and improve toughness. The fibers supplement, but do not always replace, traditional reinforcement.

Fibers reduce the size and spread of shrinkage cracks that can develop as concrete cures. Depending on the project, fiber reinforcement may improve impact resistance and long-term durability while working alongside conventional reinforcing materials. The type and amount of fiber used depend on the project's engineering requirements.
