Troweling draws cement paste to the surface and seals the concrete pores, making it resistant to water infiltration. While a glass-smooth troweled finish is great for indoor garage floors, NYC public sidewalks require a non-slip texture. Therefore, troweling is immediately followed by a texturing step to ensure pedestrian safety in wet weather.
