Efflorescence

Common Defects & Damage Types
Efflorescence Efflorescence is a white, powdery deposit left on concrete or masonry when water carries dissolved salts to the surface and then evaporates. It is generally a cosmetic condition.

Although efflorescence does not usually weaken concrete, it often indicates that moisture is moving through the material. Identifying the source of water infiltration can help reduce recurring deposits. Cleaning the surface alone may not solve the problem if moisture continues entering the concrete.
