Concrete strike-off

Repair, Replacement & Construction Methods
Concrete strike-off The initial step in finishing a pour, where a straight-edged tool is dragged across the top of the formwork to cut off excess wet concrete.

Strike-off, also known as screeding, establishes the initial flat surface of the sidewalk. By resting the strike-off board on top of the side forms, workers ensure the concrete is flush with the desired grade. This step is critical because it ensures there are no low spots that will collect water or high spots that could become trip hazards later.
