Undermining

Common Defects & Damage Types
Undermining Undermining is the loss of soil or support beneath concrete that leaves portions of the slab unsupported. The pavement may appear intact while hidden voids develop underneath.

Undermining commonly results from erosion, leaking pipes, or repeated water infiltration beneath the pavement. Without adequate support, the slab becomes more likely to crack, settle, or rock under load. Repairs often require restoring the foundation as well as the concrete surface.
