Re-inspections are typically handled by a different inspector than the one who issued the original notice, giving the review some independence from the first finding. This is the route an owner takes when they believe a defect doesn't actually exist, that the wrong property was cited, or that the damage was caused by the city (such as a utility cut or a street tree) rather than by neglect. It's also the step used after completed repair work to confirm a violation is ready to be dismissed. Requests go through 311 in all cases.
